Electric car how it works – the adapter plate

Posted in Wheel Adapters Articles on January 30th, 2010

Electric car differs in operation from regular gasoline in many ways. First, there is no internal combustion engine, no exhaust, no fuel tank of the motor and the batteries charged and no generator. There is another fundamental difference in design. This is the area of transmission.

In a conventional car, the transmission is based on petrol. This means that the transfer of power from the engine to the rear axle oraxis passing through a series of mechanical gears, until the wheel speed to the other side. Electric cars are different. Since car batteries and electric motors used for propulsion, the engine will not be available to enable them to transfer power to the machine to be delivered.

Instead there is a device called the adapter plate. This component is the electric motor of the electric vehicle to transfer the old car-mount engine and the electric car. TheThe goal is to transfer power from the gearbox, the steering wheel on a regular and continuous. To achieve this goal, the card should happen on a number of models. In fact, what we call the adapter plate is a combination of four parts – is made of aluminum so it can withstand the heat and desire in the room, which was originally designed to fly in a conventional car.

The hub on the plate for extra strength. It's so factcan provide high torque for the car to load or move easily climbs.

Adapter plates are made of highly specialized engineering companies because of the need for greater precision.
